Careers at Mind Therapy

Mind Therapy was built on the conviction that good care should be affordable for the people who need it. Behind that sits a second conviction, less visible but just as firmly held: the clinicians providing the care deserve the same attention as the clients receiving it. Ally Nektalov has spent her career on both sides of that arrangement, and she runs this practice the way she wishes every place she ever worked had been run.

How Ally leads

Before founding Mind Therapy, Ally directed mental health services for organizations across New York City and New York State, and she teaches clinical practice as an adjunct professor at NYU and Touro College. Those years gave her a long view of what happens to gifted therapists inside systems that treat them as billable hours. She watched clinicians who loved the work leave the field, and she noticed that they rarely left because of their clients. They left because no one was taking care of them.

She decided her own practice would be different, and she has kept that promise.

Her leadership rests on a belief the management literature keeps rediscovering and health care keeps forgetting: people who feel cared for extend that care to others. At Mind Therapy, supervision is protected time for honest clinical conversation, the hour where hard cases get easier. Caseloads are set with each clinician, at a size that lets them bring their full attention to every session. Billing, credentialing, and insurance are handled by the practice so that therapists spend their energy on therapy. And Ally remains reachable— the director who answers her phone, who knows what is happening in her clinicians’ rooms and in their lives, and who says thank you often and means it.

The result is a team of clinicians who share her conviction that excellent care and affordable care are the same project. Warmth here shapes real decisions: who gets hired, how caseloads are set, what happens when a clinician needs a lighter month.

What you can expect

  • Weekly clinical supervision and case consultation, treated as protected time
  • A caseload sized with you, and revisited when life requires it
  • A fully remote telehealth practice: see clients from anywhere in New York State
  • Credentialing, billing, and insurance handled by the practice
  • Colleagues chosen for values as much as credentials
  • A director who wants to know how you are, and asks

Who we hire

We hire New York State licensed clinicians— LCSWs, LMHCs, LMFTs, and licensed psychologists— with strong clinical training and a commitment to in-network, accessible care. Experience with anxiety, depression, couples work, eating disorders, or substance use is especially welcome. Above all, Ally hires people she would trust with her own family, because that is exactly what a referral is.
