Frequently Asked Questions

Does Mind Therapy accept insurance?

Yes — Mind Therapy is in-network with major plans including Aetna, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, Oxford, Empire BCBS, and Oscar. We verify your exact coverage before your first session, so you know what it will cost before you commit.

How much does therapy cost with insurance?

Most in-network clients pay only their plan’s copay, typically $0–$50 per session. We confirm your exact cost before your first session, and self-pay rates are available if we’re not in-network with your plan.

Is online therapy as effective as in-person therapy?

Yes — research consistently shows telehealth therapy is as effective as in-person care for anxiety, depression, and PTSD. Many clients find it easier to open up from a familiar space, and consistency improves without commutes.

Who can use Mind Therapy?

Anyone physically located in New York State. Our therapists are licensed in New York and see adults, couples, and teens — from New York City to Buffalo.

Can parents book therapy for their teen?

Yes — parents can book the first appointment on their teen’s behalf. We’ll explain how consent and confidentiality work for minors in New York before the first session.

How soon can I start?

Most clients book an appointment within days and begin sessions the same week. Evening and weekend appointments are available.
